Connecticut Copper, M32.5-aa, W3260, INDE Over FUDE = FNDE, R4. This is a nearly choice glossy tan brown
example with F12+ details, smooth surfaces, and excellent eye appeal. The Whitman colonial book speculates
"The engraver thought he was working on a Fugio copper, then corrected
his error." This example is
usually seen in low grades, in fact the Newman coin was just NGC F15 and sold
for $822.50 on 05/16/14 as lot #30111.
I believe that example is slightly sharper than this coin, but I do
like my surfaces and glossy tan color better!
