1787 Fugio Cent N9-Q W6760 STATES UNITED PCGS VG8 R5 RARE Variety

1787 Fugio Cent, N9-Q, 4 Cinquefoils STATES UNITED, W6760, R5.  This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as VG8, and it is every bit of that grade if not higher.  The obverse is medium brown with a splash of silver around FUGIO, and the reverse is darker chocolate brown.  There is a light obverse scratch on the obverse as well as a somewhat irregular rim at top left corner, but these are not uncommon for a Fugio cent and certainly did not prevent PCGS from grading the coin.  RARE R5 variety, which does command a small premium.  Purchased from the Stacks Bowers April 2022 auction lot #1247 where it brought $552.
