Description

1787 Massachusetts Copper Half Cent, R5-A, W5960, R3. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as VF35 and my consignor was disappointed with that grade, which he considers EF40. My guess is that the weakness on the right facing side of the Indian is well-worn, poorly-struck, or both, and perhaps that limited the grade to VF35. On the plus side, this is a WAY above average example that is definitely a PLUS coin. Original dark chocolate brown fields surround lighter medium brown highpionts, and the surfaces are nearly perfect in-hand. Those tiny blemishes are non-existent in hand, and the surfaces are glossy and extremely attractive. I will go with my old saying: if you like the photos, you will LOVE this coin!
