Description

1787 New Jersey copper, M46-e, W5250, R1. From the E Pluribus Unum collection, sold by Stacks on 11/15/19, where this was lot #3333 and described as: "1787 New Jersey copper. Maris 46-e. Rarity-1. Outlined Shield. AU-53 (PCGS). 147.5 grains. Frosty chocolate brown with choice surfaces and exceptional eye appeal for the grade. Obverse aligned to upper right, with SAR at the edge of the planchet, reverse bettered centered but missing denticles at base. Die State 4, with a bulge above the date in addition to the usual heavy clashing. This is a common variety, even in high grade, but this coin is far prettier than most.
