1788 Massachusetts Copper Cent, Ryder 12-I, Period After Massachusetts, R4-. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as VF30, and it's a glossy example with mottled dark and medium brown colors on each side. The obverse is perfectly smooth, with just a well-hidden scratch above AL, while the reverse is also nearly perfect, with an even MORE hidden tiny scratch beneath the 1 in the date. This example is very similar to the lower grade PCGS VG8 that I have listed here, with the obverse a full grade weaker than the reverse, and with a particularly bold "raised" eagle. Very nice for this Stout Indian variety, and the minor defects are nearly invisible without magnification. Ex-Ebay 2013; Furnace Run collection. REDUCED FROM $850 TO $675.
