1788 New Jersey copper M50-f W5475 Head Left PCGS VG10 Tan Brown

From the Stacks Winter Showcase 2022 auction on 11/01/22, where this coin was lot #3242 described as: "1788 New Jersey 1/2p. Maris 50-f, W-5475. Rarity-3. Head Left. VG-10 BN (NGC).  A pleasing circulated representative of this New Jersey 1/2p Guide Book type, both sides are toned in a bold blend of deep golden-brown and steely-russet. Wear is a little uneven, some of the peripheral areas with waning detail and much of the horse's head soft. The plow, date and much of the reverse lettering is much sharper, and virtually all major design elements are at least discernible. The surfaces are well composed for having seen this extensive circulation. A wholesome VG worthy of serious bidder consideration."  What I really like about this coin is the COLOR: most of these seem to be black, but this one is a gorgeous refreshing TAN.  This coin has now been crossed over to a PCGS VG10 holder with "Head Left" on the label.
