 Description
1793 C1 Liberty Cap half cent, smooth bust line, R3+. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as F15, and in my opinion, the coin is clearly under-graded. I think the die state fooled PCGS, because this variety ALWAYS comes weak on the reverse at HALF CENT. This is a middle-die-state (MDS) example with HALF CENT nearly gone but before the reverse rim break above F-AME. Rich dark chocolate brown color, smooth surfaces, and full borders on each side. Purchased raw as EAC VF25, and comes with a small white envelope from EAC #781, whom I am told is Mike Demling. In any case, this is an excellent example for the grade, with fantastic eye appeal. The "Cohen-1" attribution is listed on the PCGS label. Without exception, my coins are sharper and more attractive in person than in my photos, so if you like the photos, you will LOVE the coin!
Redbook Variety: Cohen 1
PCGS Coin#: 35003
Pedigree: Mike Demling EAC 781; CVM; Shawn A. Yancey 11041; JRB; Shawn A. Yancey 12150
Certification: PCGS
