Description
1795 C6a Liberty Cap Half Cent, Plain Edge No Pole, R2. This was lot #141 in the Goldberg's Davy auction on 09/04/11, where it realized $425.50. The coin itself is an EAC G5 with smooth surfaces and chocolate brown color. The coin now resides in a PCGS FR2 holder - I guess PCGS considers the part that was off-center to be WEAR?! The real appeal of this coin is that it is a major mint error, being struck 15% OFF-CENTER toward obverse K10. A very nice example of a very rare early mint error.
