1838 N-4 Coronet Large Cent, PCGS MS65RB CAC, R2.  From the Stacks Bowers auction on 08/13/22, lot #2080, and described as: “1838 Modified Matron Head Cent. N-4. Rarity-2. MS-65 RB (PCGS). CAC.  A satiny copper-red piece with light brown highlights on the high points of the design. Considerable gloss further enhances already strong visual appeal. Sharply defined over most design elements, this smooth and inviting Choice Mint State example is sure to please the discerning bidder.”  This coin realized $4,560 in that auction, and the current PCGS Price Guide is $4,750 for a non-CAC coin.  One of my and the consignor’s favorite coins in this collection – it’s so red and just has an amazing LOOK that grabs you as soon as you pull the coin out of the box.  Definitely a WOW example!  PCGS certification# 1742.65/45143618.
