About Me
Earlycoppercoins.com is owned by me, Shawn A. Yancey!  I am member #4647 of Early American Coppers (EAC), and I have been in business part-time since 1997.

I specialize in early American copper coins, specifically 1793 - 1811 half cents, and 1793 - 1814 large cents.  I also dabble a bit in early type coins, primarily first year issues of the United States Mint.

I am proud to annouce myself as a Christian, and I thank Jesus for that, because I am far from perfect and definitely in need of His Grace!  My Christian background has a tremendous influence on my business, as I run it according to the Golden Rule and with His guidance.

Earlycoppercoins.com is a part-time adventure for me, but the early coppers are in my blood full-time!  I do somehow manage to stay profitable, but what I really get out of my business is the opportunity to handle lots of fantastic early copper coins.  I still get excited every time I get a new coin in the mail or at a show.  My coin business also helps me to build my own collection, which is small and humble but still a great source of satisfaction for me nevertheless.  I have also been able to build relationships with lots of great people that share my addiction for early copper coins!

My day job is Co-Owner of Fleet Sales LLC, a commercial truck dealership located in Springfield, Missouri.  I love my job, and I have finished in the top 10 in the United States for General Motors medium duty truck sales for the past several years.  I finished 4th in my best year, behind the three salespeople that sell trucks to Penske, Schwan's, and Lowe's, respectively.

I graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas, in 1989, and from Texas A&M University in 1993.  I was a National Merit scholar, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Accounting.  I moved to Springfield in August 1993 after I graduated from Texas A&M, and this is the best place I have ever lived!

I am basically a kid in the copper community, having been born in 1970.  I married my high school sweetheart, Kimberly, and we have been married for almost 16 years now.  Aside from Christ, Kim is the single best blessing I have received in my life, and she is the closest thing to perfection that I have ever known.  She is beautiful both inside and out, and we share three beautiful children together: Madilynn Chase is now 10; Lily Grace is 7; and Jake Aaron is 4.  My sweet Lily Grace was born with a condition called "lissencephaly," which means that she was born with an incomplete and improperly formed brain.  Lily cannot walk or talk, and she is about 3 months old in terms of mental capacity, although she is now 7.  She is wheelchair-bound, and is entirely dependent on us for her care.  But my sweet angel Lily has taught me more about life and love than I can put into words here!  If you have any extra prayers, we would sure appreciate it if you would ask Jesus to heal our Lily Grace!

Aside from coins, I also enjoy Corvettes (but don't have one!), tennis, shooting, riding ATV's (DO have one!), Texas Hold'em, and playing Xbox with my neighbors (Halo, anyone?).  I also dabble in ice skating, paintball, and various other activities that give me a steady dose of humility and remind me that I am getting old daily!

That's all; that's me; that's Earlycoppercoins.com!  Enjoy my website, and I hope that I can help you with the addiction that we share for Early American Copper coins!
