1786 M23-R New Jersey 1/2p, Narrow Shield Curved Plow Beam, W4945, R3. A tale of two sales! In the Heritage sale of 04/10/23 this coin brought $1,680 as lot #51002. I was one of the underbidders in that sale, so when this coin came up again at Heritage on 03/30/26 as lot #50066, I was THRILLED to be able to purchase this beauty at the bargain price of just $915! This is a smooth, gorgeous, sharp, attractive VF30 that certainly deserves the CAC certification as choice for the assigned grade! I wish that the Maris 23-R attribution was listed on the label, but you can’t have everything! PCGS certification# 45424.30/24519086.
