Description

1786 New Jersey copper, M15-J, Narrow Shield with Straight Plow Beam, R4. This coin has been authenticated and graded by PCGS as VF35, and it's a sharp and attractive example with gorgeous tan brown color and strong details, especially on the shield. The surfaces are nearly smooth but a glass reveals some tiny planchet striations, mostly on the horse and to the right. Very nice color, surfaces, and eye appeal. I purchased this from Darwin Palmer at EAC St. Louis on 05/15/22, and he commented that it took him many years to upgrade from this excellent example. The Straight Plow Beam and Maris 15-J attributions are listed on the PCGS label.
