1787 Connecticut 1/2p M1.2- C Muttonhead PCGS EF40 W2720 R3

From the Earlycoppercoins PCGS Registry Set.  From the Stacks Bowers sale of 11/26/24, lot #1228, where it was described as: “1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 1.2-C, W-2720. Rarity-3. Mailed Bust Right, Muttonhead, Topless Liberty. EF-40 (PCGS).  Original golden-brown surfaces with an intermingling of light olive here and there. Beautifully centered and evenly struck aside from where the late-state features of the dies have precluded good expression of the details. This is mostly at the central bulging of the obverse and the incomplete, partially lapped away letters of CONNEC. Pleasantly sharp elsewhere while the reverse is nicely balanced. Tiny obverse edge nick at 10 o'clock hardly detracts, especially since this piece is otherwise smooth. A rather handsome Muttonhead for the grade.  Provenance: From the Warwick Collection of U.S. Colonial Coins, assembled from the 1930s through the 1960s.”  CVM purchased the coin from this sale at $1,320, and I purchased the coin from Chris on 02/22/25.  PCGS certification# 343.40/49648823, with “Mailed Bust Rt, Muttonhead” listed on the label, although the M1.2-C attribution is NOT.
