1787 Connecticut 1/2p M15-F W2900 Mailed Bust Left CONNECT PCGS AU58 R3 Syd Martin

From the Earlycoppercoins PCGS Registry Set.  From the Stacks Bower’s Collector’s Choice Online Auction, sold on 05/20/25 as lot #92160 and described as: “1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 15-F, W-2900. Rarity-3. Mailed Bust Left, CONNECT. AU-58 (PCGS).  112.0 grains. Nice ruddy-red and olive-brown surfaces, a bit soft in isolated peripheral areas, yet sharp through the centers. The planchet is microporous with a few minor internal flaws, not atypical for the variety, and the in-hand appearance is pleasingly smooth. There are a few nice Uncs known for this Miller number, followed by a handful of similarly nice AU coins, including that offered here.  Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier ex Jim Cicik, November 28, 1993.”  I purchased the coin out of this online auction at $1,560.  PCGS certification# 686371.58/50989167 with “MB Left, Miller 15-F” on the special Sydney F. Martin Collection label.  According to the PCGS census, this coin is tied for CC3-5 at AU58; the current PCGS Price Guide value is $13,000!
