1787 Connecticut 1/2p M41-ii W4235 R4 DBL AUCTOPI / ET IIB PCGS F12 Twin Leaf

From the Stacks Bowers sale of the Twin Leaf Collection, sold on 03/01/19 as lot #8345 and described as: “1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 41-ii, W-4235. Rarity-4. Draped Bust Left, AUCTOPI / ET IIB. Fine-12 (PCGS).  140.3 grains. Deep olive and steel brown with slightly lighter accents on the motifs. Granular throughout with a couple of small natural flaws on the obverse. Some ancient scratches will be noted under magnification, and there is a small rim bump over the CO of CONNEC. Quite similar to the Anderson-Gleckler coin in our November 2016 sale, but darker.  From the Twin Leaf Collection.  Provenance: From the Twin Leaf Collection of Connecticut & Massachusetts Coppers. Earlier ex Heritage’s 1999 Central States sale:5502; Sixth Annual C4 Convention sale, November 2000:240.”  The coin sold for $144 in that 2019 auction, and I purchased it from Doug Durasoff at EAC 2025 Pittsburgh on 05/17/25.  PCGS certification# 687371.12/36651122, with “DB Left, AUCTOPI-ETIIT, M41-ii, Twin Leaf” on the label.
