1787 Connecticut 1/2p M41-ii W4235 R4 DBL AUCTOPI / ET IIB PCGS VF35 Norman G. Peters

From the Stacks Bowers sale of the Norman G. Peters collection, sold on 12/01/21 as lot #8683 with a very concise listing: “1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 41-ii, W-4235. Rarity-4. Draped Bust Left, AUCTOPI, ET IIB. VF-35 (PCGS).  142.4 grains.  Provenance: From the Norman G. Peters Collection.”  The coin has excellent peanut butter tan brown color, with a couple of small planchet flaws, including one at the bust tip on the reverse and another smaller one in front of the face on the reverse.  The AUCTOPI feature is plainly visible, as is the ET IIB feature on the reverse, although the tops of those letters disappear off the side of the coin.  The tops of the date are easily visible, and the overall look of this coin is very positive.  There are NO auction inserts, envelopes, or other pedigree artifacts included with the coin.  The coin sold for just $480 in the Peters sale, and I purchased the coin from CVM for a MUCH higher price on 04/21/25.  Current PCGS Price Guide value is $1650.  PCGS certification# 687371.35/42629505, with “AUCTOPI, ET IIB, Miller 41-ii” on the label.
