1787 Connecticut Copper 1/2p M32.5-aa W3260 R4 INDE/FUDE = FNDE PCGS VG10

From the Earlycoppercoins PCGS Registry Set.  From the Stacks Bower’s Global Showcase Auction on 08/20/24, lot #7141 and described as: “1787 Connecticut Copper. Miller 32.5-aa, W-3260. Rarity-4. Draped Bust Left, FNDE. VG-8 (PCGS).  139.9 grains. Uniform dark brown with microgranular surfaces. One short natural flaw on the obverse within the head of the effigy, and a broader streaking one at the upper left quadrant of the reverse. Slightly off center, crowding some design elements but without any losses.  Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier ex Jeff Rock via eBay, July 2000.”  The coin sold for $240 in that auction, but NOT to me.  Instead, I purchased this coin from Kevin Vinton on 05/23/25.  When the coin sold in the Syd Martin sale, it was PCGS VG8 certification #685198.08/49101665, BUT when I purchased the coin from Kevin it was in a NON-Syd Martin PCGS holder as VG10, with new certification# 388.10/56024010, with "Draped Bust Left, FNDE" on the label.  Please read carefully: the coin is NOT in the Syd Martin PCGS VG8 holder, it is in a new non-Syd Martin PCGS VG10 holder!  There is no Stacks auction insert, but Syd's white paper envelope remains with the coin.
