Description
Ex-Heritage / Partrick auction 11/01/20 lot #44187, where it was described as: "1787 Connecticut, Draped Bust Left, M. 32.2-X.2, W-3225, R.5, XF45 NGC. An impressive example with smooth surfaces and faint planchet marks at the centers where the design elements were not completely struck. Probably a low-end Condition Census example, this piece is easily finer than those seen in most other advanced cabinets. Oechsner and Newman each had examples that graded Fine, while Taylor, Keller, Tanenbaum, and the ANS have VF pieces. A small rim anomaly is noted at 10:30 on the obverse and 9 o'clock on the reverse. This late die state piece has a solid reverse rim break at 11:45. Listed on page 66 of the 2021 Guide Book. Ex: Jon Hanson (1/4/2001); Donald G. Partrick." CVM to SAY on 11/18/22; YOUR NAME HERE! The photos on Heritage were disrespectful to this coin - in hand I consider this one to be CHOICE and the huge rim break is a nice bonus. Overall an exceptional example and certainly CC-level; in fact the Partrick envelope suggests “2nd Finest.”
