1787 George Clinton Excelsior Copper ELECTROTYPE COPY VF

From the Stacks sale of 03/23/20, lot #20759, and described as: “Electrotype Copy 1787 Excelsior Copper. George Clinton. Copper over Lead. Plain Edge. Very Fine, Residue.  144.3 grains. Uniformly microgranular, with pleasant details and handsome olive-brown patina. A few wispy reverse pin scratches are noted for accuracy, as are traces of light residue on the same side that appear to be removable with the requisite skill. All in all, a high-quality electrotype with considerable charm and appeal for this important type.  Provenance: From our Baltimore Auction of November 2013, lot 4303. Lot tag and collector envelope with provenance notation included.”  This electro realized $100 in the 2020 auction, and $88.13 in the 2013 sale, but there are no lot tickets remaining with the coin.  I purchased from LBRC at FUN on 01/11/25.
