1787 Machin's Mills 1/2p Vlack 19-87C PCGS F12 W7940

From the Early Cents Auctions Houston Money Show sale part 1, sold on 01/17/25 as lot #242 and described as: “1787 Machin's Mills Vlack 19-87C, W-7940 R2, PCGS graded F12.  Slightly glossy light to medium brown with darker olive brown and steel in protected areas. Covered with fine roughness mixed with hairline scratches on both sides. No verdigris and none of the scratches is visible to the unaided eye. Looks better than it may sound. The date is strong and the legends are easily readable. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. (The holder is badly scuffed.)”  The coin sold for $204 in that sale compared to a PCGS Price Guide value of $300.  There is also a prior appearance in the Stacks Bowers auction of 11/30/21, where it was lot #8740 and sold for $120, with a reference to the Bill Gleckler collection.  PCGS certification# 926959.12/43306286 with "Machin's Vlack 19-87C" on the label.
