Description

1787 Massachusetts Copper Cent, Ryder 3-G, W6090, R2+. This coin has been authenticated and graded by NGC as VF Details Scratches. Okay, so you can look at the photos and see the scratches, but remember that my supersize photos also supersize the scratches. In hand, the scratches are not that visible, and plus that arc at the bottom of the obverse may in fact be a planchet cut before the coin was struck. Now the truly sad part: without those scratches, this coin is CHOICE! Glossy rich dark chocolate brown, bold details on both sides, and fantastic eye appeal. Too bad about the scratches, because otherwise this one would be nearly perfect. Ex-Ebay 2012; Furnace Run collection.
