1793 S-2 Chain Large Cent AMERICA R4+ PCGS VG New Cumberland Collection

NCC-002: 1793 S-2 Chain Cent, AMERICA Reverse, R4+, PCGS VG Details, EAC F12 net G5.  PCGS VG Details Devices Engraved, and the engraving is obvious at the 1 in the date which was crudely strengthened.  The rest of the date is strong.  There is additional damage in the form of several light digs on the portrait, plus some slightly deeper nicks on the reverse.  On the plus side, the details approach F12, the color is an attractive milk chocolate brown, and the date is clear.  Positive eye appeal despite the defects and a "darn" coin as opposed to a "yuck" coin.  My EAC grade is F12 net G5 which matches the grade assigned by Tom Reynolds whose trademark yellow envelope remains with the coin.  PCGS VG Detail Devices Engraved S-2 AMERICA New Cumberland Collection #35435.98/47954234.  Ex-D&S Coins on 12/31/98 via Tom Reynolds.
