1794 S-19a R5+ Liberty Cap Large Cent Head of 1793 Noyes VF20 net VG7 New Cumberland Collection

NCC-022: 1794 S-19a Liberty Cap, Head of 1793, R5+, Noyes #59771 VF20 net VG7.  Sharpness is certainly VF20 but the coin is lightly and evenly granular, with very dark color that is nearly black and with a touch of dark green.  Aside from the roughness, there is only one mark to speak of, and that is a tiny nick on the reverse rim above ST in STATES.  Everything is visible on the obverse including an easily readable date, and the reverse is even stronger.  Recorded in Numistudy V6 as #59771, where Noyes grades the coin as VF20 net VG7 Minus and tied for CC14-16 out of just 35 recorded examples.  Noyes tracks the pedigree to Tom Reynolds in Boston in 2006, and Tom’s yellow envelope accompanies the coin as VF20 net VG10 at $4,150 net.  Ex-Tom Reynolds Boston 2006; D&S Coins 04/20/06 at $4200.
