1795 S-77 R3 Liberty Cap Large Cent Plain Edge PCGS VF25 New Cumberland Collection

NCC-082: 1795 S-77 Liberty Cap, Plain Edge, R3, PCGS VF25, EAC VF20+ net F15+.  Authenticated and graded by PCGS as VF25, and what a lovely original medium tan brown example with gorgeous color, surfaces, and eye appeal.  Sharp even VF20+ details on both sides, with the only notable defect being some very faint hairlines starting at obverse rim K2 and stretching across the chin and into the front of the neck.  While these are visible in my large photos, they are nearly invisible in hand and even with a strong glass they are quite inoffensive.  This is a variety that does seem to come on nicer planchets, and this coin upholds that reputation.  A premium example of this variety, and my EAC grade is VF20+ net F15+ and certainly Average Plus.  PCGS VF25 S-77 Plain Edge New Cumberland Collection #35726.25/47927424.  Ex-D&S Coins 05/28/96.
