1797 C-1 Liberty Cap half cent, Plain Edge with 1 Above 1 in Date, R2. This coin has been authenticated and graded by NGC as VF20 and labeled as "Overstruck"; however, I don't really see any updertype, just the typical obverse cracks and lower right reverse weakness that is caused by die state. Perhaps more study will reveal an undertype planchet? Regardless this is a nice, solid example, with average surfaces and color. NGC certification# 3189960-003 with " 1/1 Plain Edge 1/2c C-1 Overstruck" listed on the label. A duplicate from the Furnace Run collection.
