Description

NCC-135: 1797 S-125 Draped Bust, Reverse of 1797 with Stems, R5, EAC VG8 net G6. Dark steel brown with VG8 details on both sides. The surfaces are still glossy and overall this is an attractive example. Struck from clashed dies with strong clash marks plainly visible in front of the face and neck. Additionally, there is an as-struck planchet clip at K5-K6 obverse. Examination reveals a couple of thin diagonal scratches left of the lower hair curls, while the reverse shows a couple of “dirt patches” of lighter brown color at right and lower left quadrant. This one is somewhat hard to describe, so let me just say that it’s very decent in person. My EAC grade is VG8 net G6. Ex-EAC 2001 lot 203; D&S Coins 04/02/01.
