1798 S-177 R4+ Draped Bust Large Cent PCGS VG VG8 net VG7 New Cumberland Collection

NCC-192: 1798 S-177 Draped Bust, Style 2 Hair, R4+, PCGS VG Details, EAC VG8 net VG7.  That obverse die crack extending upward from the bust prompts a quick flipover with hopes of seeing single leaves at the top of the wreath, which would make this a lovely S-178.  Sorry, there are no single leaves here, so that means this is the tough S-177 instead.  PCGS says VG Details Edge Repaired: I do see several small rim nicks on each side, but no obvious repairs.  I suspect PCGS was looking at the obverse rim from K3-K6, where perhaps some of the nicks were smoothed down.  Solid VG8 details on both sides, with just the faintest trace of roughness and a thin layer of darker green patina.  My EAC grade is VG8 net VG7.  PCGS Edge Repaired VG Detail S-177 2nd Hair Style New Cumberland Collection #36101.98/47927459.  Ex-D&S Coins 10/19/93.
