1801 S-220 R3 Draped Bust Large Cent PCGS Fine F15+ net F12+ New Cumberland Collection

NCC-238: 1801 S-220 Draped Bust, Fraction 1/000, R3, PCGS Fine Details, EAC F15+ net F12+.  Authenticated and graded by PCGS as Fine Details Cleaned.  Sharpness is fully VF20 on each side, and the color is a dark glossy steel brown.  There are some tiny nicks on the lower neck, plus a light scratch from the neck to the rim at K4.  The reverse shows very minor roughness plus a tiny nick between ONE CENT.  Looks better in hand than my description & photos, and actually a very nice example for this variety, certainly destined to be removed from the PCGS holder and greatly admired.  My EAC grade is F15+ net F12+, and I fully expected PCGS to grade this coin as high as VF20: nope!  PCGS Cleaned F-Detail S-220 1/000 New Cumberland Collection #36275.92/47927464.  Ex-D&S Coins 01/31/89.
