1819 N4 Coronet Large Cent Small Date R3 PCGS VF30 ex-Wachtel

From the Early Cents Auction sale of the Dr. Thomas Wachtel collection, sold on 04/29/23 as lot #99, and described as: “1819 N-4 R3 Close Stars PCGS graded VF30. Glossy light chocolate brown with reddish brown toning in protected areas on the reverse. Microscopic traces of fine verdigris can be found in protected areas on the reverse, but it takes a strong glass to find them. The surfaces are smooth (except for the usual die rust evident on the reverse) and the only marks are a nick on the nose and some faint scratches hidden in the toning from ON to EN. LDS. The die line connecting the feet of the T & E in STATES is faint. Our grade is VF20. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Ex Chris McCawley-Doctor Thomas Wachtel Collection.”
