1822 N1 R1 Coronet Large Cent PCGS AU55 ex-EHR Green & Newman

From the Eric Newman collection, sold by Heritage on 11/15/14 as lot #7113, which sold for $1586.25.  In that Heritage auction, the coin was described thus: “1822 1C N-1, R.3, AU58 NGC. CAC. Our EAC Grade AU50. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The close date and low second S in STATES help attribute the moderately scarce N-1. Traces of faded red cling to the stars and letters, but most of this momentarily circulated cent is light chocolate-brown. The lower left obverse quadrant has a few small marks.  Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $7.50; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.”  Most recently sold in the Early Cents Auctions sale on 01/20/23, where it was lot #353 and sold for $1560.  Bob Grellman's envelope with the coin says that this is Noyes #29028 as EF45 net EF40.  I am going to split the difference with Noyes and Grellman, and go with AU50+ net EF45+.  Great chance to add great coin with a great pedigree to your collection!
