1828 C-1 Classic Head Half Cent, 13 Stars Obverse, R1. Authenticated and graded by PCGS as AU58, and that's an accurate assessment. Almost no trace of wear, but the coin has oxidized in an older, blue-label, non-Edgeview PCGS holder so the luster is somewhat subdued. But you can see that it's clearly there, and I am certain that this coin would liven up dramatically if the oxidation was brushed away with CARE or Blue Ribbon. Soft lustrous golden chestnut brown with some spots of darker chocolate brown toning. Overall, this is a very sharp and attractive example, and that AU58 grade is quite desirable to most collectors.
