CHOICE 1788 Connecticut 1/2p M11-G W4510 PCGS AU58 Mailed Bust Left R2

From the Earlycoppercoins PCGS Registry Set.  1788 Connecticut 1/2p, M11-G, W4510, Mailed Bust Left, R2.  Authenticated and graded by PCGS as AU58, and essentially CHOICE for the assigned grade.  This coin has appeared in FOUR recent auctions: Stacks Bowers 10/30/18:6167:2400; Stacks Bowers 08/25/21:1024:$2640; Heritage 08/25/21:7009:$1980; and most recent Heritage 01/19/25:7006 where I purchased the coin for just $2,040.  The current PCGS Price Guide value is $3,750 so I will assign an asking price of $3,250 to this beauty.  The second Stacks Bowers has the fullest description of the coin, so here it is: “1788 Connecticut Copper. Miller 11-G, W-4510. Rarity-2. Mailed Bust Left. AU-58 (PCGS).  A fantastic Connecticut Copper and one of the very best examples seen of the die variety. Glossy, mark-free, reddish medium brown surfaces that show subtle traces of frosty luster. Sharply struck from a fairly early state of the dies, slightly off center as usual but only a tiny portion of the date and legends were affected. The planchet is of extremely high quality, totally devoid of even microscopic flaws leaving nothing to disrupt the boldly executed design elements. An exceptionally handsome piece that's sure to please even the pickiest State Copper connoisseur.  Provenance: Our October 2018 Baltimore Auction, lot 6167.”  Although a common Miller variety and Redbook type, this is certainly an uncommonly CHOICE coin for the grade and I doubt I will ever be able to upgrade this beauty.  PCGS certification# 405.58/30480238 with “Mailed Bust Left” on the label.
